Bug with Airtable modules: Make thinks that read-only fields are writeable

Hello there,

I’m writing to report a significant bug with all of Make’s Airtable modules.

Make thinks that Airtable’s read-only fields are writeable.

All of Make’s Airtable modules are offering users the ability to write data to Airtable fields that are READ-ONLY fields in Airtable.

Of course, because these fields are READ-ONLY in Airtable, the Make scenario will always return error messages to the user because a READ-ONLY field can NOT be written to.

That is what “read-only” means — it means that it cannot be edited. It means that it cannot be written to.

For example, in the screenshot below, you can see that Make is allowing the user to send information to a “Last Modified By” field.

This is one of the many different field types in Airtable that is a READ-ONLY field in Airtable, meaning that it CANNOT be written to by the user, because it is a read-only field. It is NOT a writeable field.

Unfortunately, Make has this exact same bug for 100% of its Airtable modules, and for every single one of Airtable’s “read-only” field types in Airtable.

Airtable clearly lists all of the read-only fields on this page of their web API documentation. If you scroll through the page, it will tell you which fields are READ-ONLY and which fields are WRITEABLE.

But Make thinks that ALL of the read-only fields are writeable, and this bug affects all of Make’s Airtable modules, too.

Thank you!
Scott
