# Can get variable

guys can any help me how to get the variable the output keeps coming out empty im just trying to learn it?

Hello @Dean_Bailey,

Welcome to the Make Community!

If your Get Variable is on the first route, and your Set Variable is on the second, then the first won’t get anything, thus the empty response.

You would need to move Set Variable to first position on the router. Right-click on the router to reorder those. The order is set in the order in which you connect them to the router.

the tool option is not showing in the get variable module

You must manually enter the name of the variable you saved, it does not enumerate them for you, though that’d be a nice addition!
