🔥 Feature Spotlight: Make plugin for ChatGPT

:warning: The Make plugin for ChatGPT is temporarily unavailable. We’re actively working with the OpenAI team to restore access and will share an update here as soon as it’s available.

Build, run, and manage Make automations and AI agents inside ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex

Turn repeatable work into running automations while you are already discussing it in ChatGPT. Describe the outcome you need, then build it, check it, and keep moving without leaving the conversation.

:magic_wand: Introducing the Make plugin for ChatGPT, now listed in OpenAI’s official ChatGPT plugin directory: a way to build, run, search, and review Make automations and AI agents directly in ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex.

Official Make plugin for ChatGPT is here!

:new_button: What’s new in Make plugin for ChatGPT

  • :speech_balloon: Build from a plain-language request: Describe work such as a weekly status report, lead response process, or form-routing workflow. Make creates the automation, connects the required apps, and sets it to run on a schedule or trigger.

  • :robot: Create AI agents in the conversation: Set up an agent that monitors an inbox for new leads and drafts replies using your availability.

  • :magnifying_glass_tilted_left: Find and check automations without breaking focus: Search by name, folder, or status, run an automation, and review its output in ChatGPT.

  • :bar_chart: Review work that already ran: Browse execution history and past results with searchable tables, status badges, pagination, and structured results.

:flexed_biceps: Use cases for Make plugin for ChatGPT

  • :date: Prepare weekly project updates: Ask in ChatGPT for the report you need, and Make builds an automation that compiles it and saves it to your team’s shared drive every week.
  • :inbox_tray: Respond to inbound leads: Describe the agent you want in a ChatGPT conversation, and Make builds one that watches your email inbox for new leads and drafts replies with your availability, ready for you to approve before anything is sent.
  • :shuffle_tracks_button: Route form submissions: Set it up in ChatGPT so each new form submission lands on your team’s task board, then come back to the same conversation to check what ran and what it created.
  • :waving_hand: Onboard new team members: Tell ChatGPT what should happen when someone joins, and Make sends the welcome email and schedules the intro meetings before their first day.
  • :memo: Turn meetings into follow-ups: Say in ChatGPT what you want after each call, and Make summarizes what was decided and creates the follow-up tasks, so nobody has to write them up.

:rocket: How to install the Make plugin for ChatGPT

:warning: Temporarily unavailable. We’re working with OpenAI to restore access

  1. Install the plugin: Open the Make listing in the official OpenAI ChatGPT plugin directory and add it.
  2. Connect your Make account: Sign in with the Make account you already have. Your automations, app connections, and permissions stay exactly where they are.
  3. Describe what you want: Start from one of the example prompts on the plugin profile, such as “Automate a weekly project report and save it to my team’s shared drive”, or describe the work in your own words.

:round_pushpin: Where to use the Make plugin for ChatGPT

  • :globe_with_meridians: In ChatGPT: Build and manage automations in any ChatGPT browser conversation.
  • :desktop_computer: In ChatGPT Work: The same Make plugin, in the ChatGPT desktop app your team already works in.
  • :laptop: In Codex: Build and manage Make automations alongside Codex sessions you are working on.

:white_check_mark: Availability of Make plugin for ChatGPT

Available on all Make plans, including Free. You’ll need a ChatGPT account to install it from OpenAI’s ChatGPT plugin directory.

Your automations continue running in Make’s cloud whether or not ChatGPT is open, with your existing connections, permissions, scheduling, retries, and error handling. Use ChatGPT as another place to build and manage the work that Make runs.

I use ChatGPT alongside Make to develop and manage a small business automation system. The Make connector is already very useful for inspecting scenarios, making focused changes, running controlled tests, and checking execution results.

However, there is currently an important gap: ChatGPT cannot directly browse, search, edit, or delete individual records in a Make Data Store through the connector. It means that, even where ChatGPT has built and tested the automation successfully, I still have to manually switch to the Make interface to find and remove test records or correct individual entries.

I would strongly suggest adding secure, permission-controlled Data Store record access to the Make connector, including the ability to:

  • Browse and search individual Data Store records
  • Filter records by fields such as date, status, client, or record type
  • Inspect a selected record in full
  • Create, edit, and delete individual records
  • Perform bulk changes only after a clear confirmation step
  • Maintain an audit trail of connector-initiated record changes

This would make the integration far more practical, reduce manual clicking and screenshots, and make complex automation development much quicker and less error-prone—while still preserving user approval for any destructive action.

For someone building business workflows, this would be a very valuable improvement and I would like to see it added as soon as possible.

Kind regards,
Chris Efstratiou

Thank you so much for your detailed input, @Chris_E. I have good news!

Already today, you can use the Make plugin for ChatGPT to work with records in a specific Data Store whose name or ID you provide. This includes searching and retrieving records, adding or replacing, updating, and deleting records, checking whether keys exist, and counting records.

What we’re adding now is the ability to directly list all Data Stores in a specific Make organization or team. This will let you ask ChatGPT to show the available Data Stores before working with their records, and it should be available soon.

Thanks again for calling this out! Your suggestions around filtering, confirmations for destructive actions, and auditability are valuable feedback as we continue improving the experience.

Have a good day, Valery :purple_circle:

Make ChatGPT plugin disappeared and documented MCP connection option is unavailable

Yesterday, September 21, 2026, I successfully used the official Make plugin in ChatGPT Plus. ChatGPT connected to my Make account and was able to create and configure Make scenarios.

Today, September 22, the Make plugin disappeared from my installed ChatGPT plugins and no longer appears when I search the ChatGPT Plugin Directory.

I then followed Make’s current instructions for connecting ChatGPT through an MCP Toolbox. I created a Make MCP Toolbox and enabled Developer Mode in ChatGPT.

However, in ChatGPT Plus, the Plugin Directory’s Add menu only shows Create plugin and Upload plugin archive. There is no option to add an MCP server/toolbox URL as described in Make’s instructions.

The official plugin ID I previously used is:
plugin_asdk_app_6a57aad5bca88191832de71371ae411c

Has something changed today with the official Make plugin for ChatGPT? Is the plugin temporarily unavailable or has it been replaced? And what is the current supported way for a ChatGPT Plus user to connect an existing Make MCP Toolbox to ChatGPT?

I already have existing Make scenarios and do not want to recreate or disturb them.

I am also missing the make app, it disappeared completely

Can you tell we’re excited about the plugin? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Thanks as you work to get it back online.

:megaphone: Update: Temporary beta access restored for existing users

OpenAI has restored temporary beta access to the Make plugin for users who previously installed it. If that includes you, check the Installed section of your Plugins directory. You should be able to use Make in ChatGPT again.

As this is a temporary access arrangement, the experience may not work exactly as before, and some users may encounter interface issues. The plugin also remains unlisted in directory browsing and search while we continue working with OpenAI on restoring full availability for everyone.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: In the meantime, you can connect Make to ChatGPT or Codex through the official Make MCP Server: 📘 How to connect Make to ChatGPT and Codex

Thank you again for your patience. We’ll share another update here when the plugin becomes more broadly available.

Hi, thanks for getting the plugin back up for those of us who already downloaded it. One thing I keep hitting is Make’s rate limiter almost every time ChatGPT goes in to make changes. Wanted to get this on your radar since it happens so frequently, causing a lot of stops and restarts and making it take a lot longer to build with the plugin.

Hi @lidarose. Thanks for reporting this. It looks like you’re hitting our global request rate limit per organization. See more details here: Rate limiting | Make API | Make Developer Hub
Unlike the “normal” API, it’s hard to predict the request rate for AI agents. They can be dormant for hours and then make a lot of requests within a minute. We are looking into a solution for this, but it will take some time. Thank you for your patience.
