# Getting a checkbox list array

Hi, I hope you can help me. I’m a noobie, so… I’m trying to get the “true’“ value from a checkbox list coming from Tally. I need to get this value to use it in an if() formula to create a google docs from template. I’ve tried with get() and map() functions with no luck. I have no idea about what I’m doing wrong.

Welcome to the Make community!

To do this, you can use these built-in functions:

- **[toArray](https://help.make.com/array-functions#dgXi0)**  
`toArray(collection)`

- **[map](https://help.make.com/array-functions#LkeqT)**  
`map(complex array; key; [key for filtering]; [possible values for filtering separated by a comma])`

- **[first](https://help.make.com/array-functions#ScL7I)**  
`first(array)`

These functions may have also been covered in the [Make Academy tutorials](https://academy.make.com) — refer to the [Make Academy Course Overview](https://community.make.com/t/make-academy-course-overview/29699) to learn more.

Here’s an example of how you can use these functions together:

> `{{first(map(toArray(1.fields); "key"; "value"; "true"))}}`  
> _(copy-paste the above into the field, or type it exactly as shown)_
