GHL x Make.com Expert to Send Contacts to GHL Without Overriding their existing information

Job Title:

Go High Level + Make.com = Contact added to GHL

Top level problem > right now when you send a contact to GHL via make the only option is to “update” or create new. We need someone to build an automation that

  1. Searches for the contact
  2. If the contact exists update the contact (WITH all the same previous tags) + new
  3. If contact doesn’t exist send to GHL with tags

(problem lies in point 2 - the “send contact” to GHL just overides all past tags)

Job Description:

I’m looking for an experienced automation specialist to build a foundational automation (anchor scenario) that connects:

The purpose of this anchor scenario is to trigger from a GHL automation, which triggers a series of SMS (not important for this) _ we need an automation (on make) that can identify the contact, see if it is a new contact in GHL, if yes (add it) and if no (update the existing contact whilst also keep the “current tags” the customer has in GHL present). Right now make can update contacts but the old “tags” Of the GHL contact are wiped.

This is a one-time job with the potential for long-term work building out 20+ additional automations if the first is successful.

Deliverables:

  • Webhook/template auotmation setup from GHL form to Make

  • Full documentation or Loom walkthrough

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with Make.com

  • Deep understanding of Go High Level API & CRM structure

  • Able to build make sure the “trigger” can be from a google sheet update (ie new row)

  • Clear communication, fast turnaround

Hey there, we’d love to help you build this on a live implementation session. Please DM your email and we will send more information. Our team has experience in your stack and we know this kind of automation very well indeed.

Thanks

Hey Rekover.ai

I’ve run into that GHL/Make tag overwrite issue before — the fix is to first look up the contact, grab the existing tags, merge them with the new ones, and then update. If no contact exists, just create it with the tags.

I can set up the webhook → Make scenario (or trigger from Google Sheets), test it end-to-end, and record a quick Loom so it’s easy to hand over.

Thanks and Regards

Hi @Rekover.ai this is fairly simple. You can just fetch the tags, if there are some, just add the tag you want to add to the existing ones, if there are no tags just add the tags. Please see the screenshot.

Happy to meet if you want me to walk you trough it.

I have strong expertise in Make.com and Go High Level (GHL), including building contact sync workflows that preserve tags and update records without overwriting data. I can set up the webhook automation from GHL to Make, ensure proper contact handling (add new vs. update existing), and provide clear documentation or a Loom walkthrough.

Hi @Rekover.ai,

I actually worked on a really similar setup just earlier this month, and everything’s running smoothly now. The key is to first fetch the existing contact in GHL, grab the contact with current tags, and then merge them with any new ones before updating this way, nothing gets accidentally overwritten.

If you’re looking for someone with over 2 years of hands-on experience and certifications in Make.com and GHL, I’d be happy to help. I can handle the webhook or template automation, make sure the tags are preserved properly.
