Having trouble with the shift key on make.com scenario name field - can't type capital letters

:bullseye: What is your goal?

Type in a scenario name that includes capital letters.

 What is the problem?

Shift keys not working to type capital letters in the scenario name field. Problem affects both left and right shift keys. Using the caps lock key WORKS to type capital letters.

:test_tube: What have you tried so far?

Tried multiple keyboards (wifi and built in laptop keyboard), tried multiple browsers, tried multiple operating systems (Windows and MacOS on different computers), tried multiple make accounts.

All combinations above work fine in all other apps and websites.

Hey Steve! Looks like this might be more appropriate for Make support, unfortunately I do not think there is another solution more than using the ā€œCaps Lockā€ feature to create scenario names with capital letters

Now, if what you want is to create a field name (variable) you should be able to do so.

Welcome to the Make community!

I can confirm this is a bug.

As this is a community (peer-led) forum, we can only help with using the Make platform (scenario building, troubleshooting error messages, etc.). We cannot assist with account, billing, or technical issues with the platform.

For technical issues and bugs like these, contacting Make support by creating a ticket is the only official option available to Make customers.

How to Create a Support Ticket

If you are logged-in, you can head to the new ticket page to submit a ticket. (If you are unable to login to your main account, it is advisable to create an account to access this page.)

Screenshot of the Create New Ticket page

After submitting your support ticket, you should receive a confirmation email with the subject ā€œTicket Createdā€ together with a summary of what you submitted. If you do not receive this automated reply within minutes, try creating a ticket again. Example of email subject: [#1234567] Ticket created | Technical challenge

Priority of Tickets

If you do not receive a response from Make support, simply be patient. Make support receives thousands of tickets daily, hence tickets have to be prioritised based on the severity of the incidents and organisation’s plan. For more information about the different levels of customer support for each plan, refer to the ā€œSupportā€ section on the Pricing page, or on your organisation’s Subscription pag. If you are a free customer, you can create a Pro account to get quicker support via the ticketing system.

Resolution

When your issue is resolved one way or another, we’d love to hear more details about the cause, and how you managed to solve it (including use of workarounds). By sharing your findings and solutions, we are contributing to this knowledgebase to enable others to search for answers to similar problems.

I am having the same problem. Caps Lock works, as well as copy/pasting an underscore. However both don’t work with Shift key.

For those who suggested filing a support issue - I did do that at the same time I posted here. Support has confirmed the bug and escalated to developers. I posted here because this is the place that other users can see and find via google searches. I thought I was crazy when I first found this silly bug, and it was super annoying to me that there was nothing pubically visible about it anywhere. I find make’s split between ā€˜public community discussions and self-help’ and ā€˜hidden private/secret bug reports’ to be troublesome. I would prefer an open publicly visible bug and issue and feature request tracker, with voting, updates from make, etc.

Regarding receiving ā€˜thousands of support tickets daily’ (that sounds like possibly it’s own problem or perhaps a bit of an exaggeration), having a publicly visible issue tracker would probably reduce that by 50% or more, at a guess, due to (again, guessing) many many of the support tickets being essentially duplicates.

Also, regarding the team’s responsiveness - of the ~20 support tickets I’ve filed over the years (yes, we are not actually make beginners), almost all have received prompt support and resolution. We did have one that took over a year and the make team just dropped the ball completely on that one, so we did have to work around it.
