What is your goal?

I have an automation (scenario) : Gmail → Text Aggregator → Filter → Add Tag in ActiveCampaign

I want to update tags only for existing contacts

Current issue: Add Tag module asks for Contact ID → I need guidance on how to automatically find the Contact ID from email

Im bit lost i dont know if my scenario is right or wrong !

What have you tried so far?

i have tried everything , from changing Modules , to follow Gpt instruction , to add filters !

You lack a module that’ll search for the emails from your ActiveCampaign account so you’ll be able to map it on then next module then add a tag to it. I hope that makes sense!

why are you doing it with an API call and not the available modules? Gmail → Search Contacts → Add a tag to a contact?

Current issue: Add Tag module asks for Contact ID

Yes, it asks for this parameter because you need to point to the exact contact you want to update with a tag in ActiveCampaign.

You need at least one module - Search Contacts.

In this step you must search for the contact based on the Gmail email sender to obtain the contact ID. Then you can map this value as Contact ID.

Also, if you do not perform any operations unsupported by the native module, you do not have to use the Make an API Call module - there is a ready-to-use module in Make.com.

First thank you so much for your answer !

i have followed your instruction and have added another module Active Campaign ! and ive made the setting in both , now when i run the test it shows 2 just after the tool !

Should i add Filters between the tool and the first Active campaign module or 2 filtres ?

You should add filter between search and add tag - you mentioned that tag should be added only to existing contacts so IF contact found–> add tag.

how do i make sure if my automation is working properly or not , i feel im just at one step from creating MY FIRST AUTOMATION ?

Yes thank you for your message, i have removed the API call and replaced by (Active campaign-module) Retrieve a contact → (Active campaign-module) Add a tag !

but thinking should i add filtrer in between those 2 or keep it like that !

Oh yeah, definitely add a filter so you only add tags to the appropriate contacts.
