I am having issues with Google sheets 'Add a Row' when using column headers as IDs of the columns

:bullseye: What is your goal?

Keep the module working without having to replace it over and over at random intervals of time.

 What is the problem & what have you tried?

The module will work when I replace it with a new one and configure it the same. At some random point it will stop working. It’ll do one of three things. Before I mention the 3 items, i want to note that all of Row 1 is filled and has a unique “ID”, there are no blank headers. A1 has a value, COL A and B are normally hidden but will fail when i unhide them too.

  1. it will add a new row and write the information on row one
  2. It will say it ran successfully, nothing is written. When I check where the information was written, it will say row 1, but the original headers will remain there ad no new data has been added.
  3. Same as 2 but the intended row (next empty row) and nothing is written there.

Once the module begin acting up, even if i swap it to No on “Use column headers as IDs”, it will not write information.

I can and will for now replace the module and consider not using the “column headers as IDs” feature.

Has anyone else had this issue? I’m not a pro but I have never had this happen until I used that new feature in the last few years.

:clipboard: Error messages or input/output bundles

None. It states it runs as intended.

Ok but does A2 have a value?

Yes. A104 is the next empty cell

And the new rows are not appearing there? Can you double check that the module is set to the same sheet?

Correct, not every time at least. I just double checked It is the correct Sheet and tab name.

I know this isn’t a sheet issue as my other automations are working fine. It’s strictly been when working with the COLUMN IDs feature. I even made a new spreadsheet and connected it at one point. It’ll work for a bit but then stop working as intended.

Welcome to the Make community!

By any chance could you share a screenshot of the sheet and module fields? If not, you’ll need to contact support.

Had to redact some information.

Try unfreezing the top row. Other than that I don’t see any issue with your sheet and module setup based on your screenshots.

Are there other automations/scripts running on the same sheet? That could cause a conflict.

I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help. If you are still having trouble, please provide more details.

All good, the issue is not persisting so it’s all good. it happens to be working fine now so applying something new doesn’t make sense. If it does act up again, then i’ll try that!
