When I click on “Create a Database Item” in Notion to change the settings, it takes a very long time for the window to open to change the properties. This is probably because it is trying to fetch the titles of all records in the related database to display names of items in it.
For relations to other databases, it can be avoided by excluding access permissions for the related database from the Make, but in my case the database has relations set to itself so this method does not solve it.
Yes, this is a side-effect of RPCs behind the scenes.
Either the Notion integration maker/maintainer will need to decrease the number of items fetched, or Notion will have to upgrade their systems to return results faster.
There’s not much we can do about it.
I’m sure others would agree that this is a nice feature to have.
