WhatsApp Business Cloud – Watch Events not receiving incoming messages (Waiting for data

:bullseye: What is your goal?

To create WhatsApp AI recepienist

 What is the problem & what have you tried?

I am building a WhatsApp AI receptionist using Make.com and WhatsApp Business Cloud. I created a WhatsApp Business Cloud connection in Make using Signup Mode: Regular (recommended) and added the Watch Events module.

I created and saved a webhook inside the Watch Events module, but when I click Run once, it remains stuck on “Waiting for data” and does not receive incoming WhatsApp messages.

My setup:

Make.com: WhatsApp Business Cloud → Watch Events
Signup Mode: Regular
Business/API phone number: +251949345xxxx
Meta test number: +1 555 658 5461
Test/recipient WhatsApp number: +251 91 014 xxxx

What I have tried:

Added +251 91 014 xxxx as the recipient/test number in Meta.
Successfully sent a message from the Meta test number to +251 91 014 xxxx; the message was delivered to WhatsApp.
Created a webhook in Make’s Watch Events module and saved it successfully.
Ran the Make scenario and sent a test message, but Watch Events still remains “Waiting for data.”

My main question is whether the Meta Developer → WhatsApp → Configure Webhooks → Callback URL / Verify Token needs to be manually configured for the current Make Regular connection. If so, where exactly can I get the correct Callback URL and Verify Token from Make? If not, what is the correct way to make Meta deliver incoming WhatsApp events to Make?

:clipboard: Error messages or input/output bundles

No error message was displayed. The Make.com scenario remained in “Waiting for data” status, but no input bundle or output bundle was received by the “WhatsApp Business Cloud → Watch Events” module after sending a test WhatsApp message.

Hi Eyasu,

As I understand it, your final setup should receive incoming messages on your business number (+251 949…) from another WhatsApp number.

You mention three numbers in your post:
Business: +251 949…
Meta test number: +1 555…
Personal/test recipient: +251 91…

You used the temporary Meta test number to send a message to your personal number, and that message was delivered.

What exact test did you run after clicking Run once in Make? Which number sent the message, and which number received it?

Also, which number belongs to the WABA selected in your Make Regular connection: the business number (+251 949…) or the Meta test number (+1 555…)?

To make it all clear
