What is your goal?
Hide (reject) selected comments in a youtube channel
What is the problem & what have you tried?
Hi everyone,
I am trying to automatically update a comment’s moderation status to rejected using the YouTube Data API “Make an API Call” module, but I keep getting a 400 Bad Request error.
To verify the comment ID, I ran a GET request using /v3/comments, and it was successful. This confirms that the comment ID is correct, valid, and exists in YouTube’s database. However, when sending a POST request to /v3/comments/setModerationStatus, the API rejects it.
Here are the details of my setup:
Endpoint: /v3/comments/setModerationStatus
Method: POST
Query Parameters: id={{commentId}}&moderationStatus=rejected
I have attached screenshots of my module configuration and credentials. Has anyone encountered this issue before or knows what might be causing the 400 error?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Your endpoint is correct, so the 400 is likely coming from the request configuration or OAuth scope, not the comment ID.
In Make, keep id={{commentId}} and moderationStatus=rejected as query parameters, leave the body empty, and make sure the YouTube OAuth connection has the youtube.force-ssl scope. Also verify the comment hasn’t already been deleted.
If you share the API Call module’s parameter/body configuration, I can pinpoint the exact issue.
Thanks for your reply!
It is 100% that the comment has not been deleted, I checked it in youtube (UI) and with the API GET ``https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/comments
This is Create Connection window
This is my request parameters:
NOTE: I tried both — sending query parameters directly in the URL and as a key value pair by clicking “
+ Add query parameter” button. Same problem in both cases.
Can it be a verification problem? Because google console shows a warning:
Make documentation says that the connection works without verifying the app but it is not guaranteed that it will keep working:
I don’t think the Google verification warning is causing this 400. Your connection is already authenticating, and you have the youtube.force-ssl scope required for moderation.
Looking at your request, I’d first remove banAuthor=false and test with only:
id={{commentId}}
moderationStatus=rejected
with an empty body. Those are the core parameters documented for setModerationStatus.
If that still returns 400, the next thing I’d verify is which Google/YouTube account authorized the Make connection. Being able to retrieve the comment with comments.list doesn’t necessarily mean that OAuth user has permission to moderate that channel’s comments.
So I’d troubleshoot the OAuth channel ownership/permissions and the exact API response before touching the Google publishing/verification status.
