Can't find the YouTube (API) app - want to download transcripts

Dear MAKErs,

this is my first post and I searched for quite a bit so forgive me if I oversaw something. I learned about Make.com and am super fascinated with its opportunities.

Here’s what I want to do: I want to download YouTube transcripts from successful videos in my niche (not my own videos) to further process it.

I read this post here Youtube Transcript and @samliew talks about the ‘YouTube App (API)’. I simply cannot find this.

Is this an app inside Make.com? Maybe only available to premium subscribers (very much willing to subscribe)?

If I add another module to the scenario and search for the term ‘YouTube’ I only find one that lets me upload videos (nice feature but not exactly what I want to do  )

So maybe you can help me out, where I can find this or how to access the transcript functionaility through the API (I have a bit of low-code dev experience as I am very experienced KNIME user - if you know that tool).

THANK YOU ALL in advance!

Looks like Make removed the YouTube “Make an API Call” module.

For technical issues or bugs like this, directly contacting support can often lead to a faster resolution. They have access to your specific account details, scenario and scenario logs, server-side logs, and internal tools and resources, which allows them to investigate more thoroughly than what you have access to. Additionally, sharing sensitive information about your account or scenario might not be suitable for an open forum discussion.

You can open a new ticket here, or if you are unable to login for some reason, you can create another new free account to access the ticketing system (which is only available to logged-in users).

If you manage to get your issue resolved with support, we’d still love to hear about it! Sharing your solution on the forum can help others facing similar problems.

that makes me wonder how ‘reliable’ automations are that I create. If the platform (make.com) for any reason can remove these connections, how reliable are they as a business partner?

If something like this can be removed so easily, I would dare to say, the platform looses quite a bit of credibility.

Thank you for using the opportunity to promote your own solution but with all due respect - that was not my question.

I appreciate that you took the effort to create something like this but I am probably not in your target audience as I want to learn about make.com and not utilize ready-made solutions.

Thanks again.

If the external service has a Developer API Reference/Documentation then you should still be able to integrate the endpoints in Make using the generic HTTP “Make a request” module.

You can also suggest for it to be made in the Idea exchange. Don’t forget to search for it first, just in case someone already suggested it, so that you don’t end up creating a duplicate.

If you need assistance in setting up the generic HTTP module, please provide additional information about what you have tried with regards to the external service’s Developer API Reference – how you are setting the connection up, a link to the endpoint are you trying to connect to, and what errors you are encountering.

You can also complete this brand new course/tutorial in the Make Academy on how to use external APIs — API calls with HTTP modules

  • Multipart/form-data
  • OAuth 2.0

For anyone still looking: I found a free & simple API that you can use for fetching transcripts:

If I recall, you’ll need a Google API Key with public read access; and then use the “HTTP Make an API Key Auth request” module.

How to get "transcript" in youtube-api v3 - Stack Overflow looks to have the API URL with your API key embedded in the URL

You can try with HTTP calls:
