I can see on the public integrations there is " Notion URL for optional template" - see Authorization.
Can anyone advise if this can be utilised for creating database entries?

Hi David, that documentation page refers to public integrations (developers can optionally share a template-Notion page-as a starting point for their users). It doesn’t have to do with database templates unfortunately. Applying database templates via the API (external automation) is currently not possible
