Set Up Gmail connection with OAuth for internal use

I want to set-up a proper GMAIL connection so I can manage and automate my inbox of my google workspace account.
But oh boy what a hassle is this

I tried by following all the steps like documented in the make.com documentation → https://www.make.com/en/help/app/gmail?_gl=1*mgiakh*_gcl_au*MTUzODcwMTc1Ny4xNzIyODY3MzQ5*_ga*MTIzMjU1MjYxMC4xNzIyODY3MzQ4*_ga_MY0CJTCDSF*MTcyNjE2Nzg2NS4xMC4xLjE3MjYxNjg3NDMuNTkuMC4w
(with user type “external”) but since I didn’t want to go through all the extra hassle of verification, I had to set it as a “test account” and my app stops working after a week …

And when I follow all the same steps with user type “Internal” (since all I want to do atm is automate my own professional inbox) when I try to add this to make.com with client secret & id, I keep getting this message “Failed to verify connection ‘MakeDotCom Gmail Integration’. Invalid refresh token. Please reauthorize the connection.”.

Did anybody here succeed with setting this up for internal purposes only?
Or is really the only way to do this to have your app verified?

Many thanks for your advice, I have spent many hours on this topic already.

I’m looking into the next steps to verify my app by Google, but now they want me to create a YouTube video of how I would use my scopes ???

Is this really what everyone on this community is doing to automate their inbox?
It seems to me like just way too much hassle, and I believe/hope there should be a simpler way forward…

Oh my goodness, apparently I didn’t need all of that and I could just set-up a normal connection (without api keys, google cloud console and all …).
Since I’m using a paid google workspace account.
I was a bit confused with all the different options and documentation.

Ah Google. They make it super hard if you’re using free Gmail. I just wish they turned off free Gmail connectivity altogether.
