Hi all,
I’ve been looking into this error for some time now. I tried reaching out to Make support, but they say that the problem lies with Pinterest. They don’t know if the problem is solved if you get access to the API, instead via the simple connect button.
My question is if anyone managed to get access to their API? They ask for a video to be made showcasing the “use of the app”. Did anyone get this right and if so, what exactly did you record?
I think the problem with publishing content to Pinterest regularly that is resulting in the [400] error has to do with:
- Users are subject to various rate limits, which cap the number of actions a user may take during a rolling time window. We do not publish rate limits or call counts for users for certain actions. A user’s call count may include actions taken across multiple apps.

Basically, this means that individuals have also their own limitations, but they do not publish what they are. I have been trying a little bit to figure this out. And I think the sweet spot is somewhere between 3-5 hours per post.
Anyone else has tried to reverse engineer this? Any outcomes?
Hi,
Do you have answers to your question ?
Because I hve the same problem (error 400).
Thanks for your help
I actually got a reply back from Pinterest regarding this matter.
It’s still not resolved though.
My next step is make a new recording and taking the points from this mail in regard.
Reply:
The screen recording should cover two key aspects: the authentication process and the integration.
For the authentication process, please show the Pinterest screen where your app requests access to the account. Capture the moment when access is granted by clicking the button to allow access. You can refer to the screenshot below as an example:
Regarding integration, for your situation, demonstrate the content that will be shared on Pinterest and then show that content appearing on Pinterest.
This is the screenshot they added in the mail:
I’m very happy to inform you guys that my Standard API access has been granted!
This is how I did it:
- Recorded a screen capture video + voice over :
- Explained the current connection process + showed the 401 error
- Explained why I think I need the standard access to get a solution to this 401 error
- Showed the scenario where I use the Pinterest module
- Explained the 2 ways you can connect the API of Pinterest in the module
- Showed the connect button available for everyone without standard access
- Showed the connection tab in make.com to refresh connections
- Did an example run of the scenario and showed the publication on my page afterward (for some reason in the test I didn’t get the 401 error. xD)
- Explained that Make.com refers to Pinterest for this specific issue
- Showed the make.com community and explained more people have this specific 401 issue
- Told them I would update the community if I got granted access and if it would solve my 401 issue.
So at the moment the scenario on my page has run twice without error. I did have to add the URI’s, not sure which ones I needed to add so I did these 4:
Hope this helps for anyone looking into this problem.
