Create Google doc - defaults to Letter size rather than A4?

I’m using this solution -
Google Docs API call to insert content from one Google Doc into another - to merge a table into a Google doc.

I have a template doc set to A4, which I download as HTML in order to add text and variables. I then create a new Google doc from the HTML, but it always ends up as Letter size and I can’t find a way to change it.

You need to manually set your preferred page size as default.

1. Go to https://docs.new/

2. Click on File > Page setup

3. Select page size and margins

4. Click on “Set as default” button

Thank you for being so quick!

However, I’ve done that and my Create document still defaults to Letter.

I wondered if there was something in my HTML that was affecting it, but it seems to happen regardless of the document content.

Any more ideas?
