Diffenrences between search and watch record modules

Hi, may you explain what is the main purpose of each ; search and watch record module ?

In my scenario I want to take post in Airtable to send it to my linkedin profile.

Thank you for your help,

Hi @Geraldine!

Great question. A Watch module is a trigger - it can start a Make scenario when is spots new data.

A Search module is similar, but it will find data using the search criteria you give it, whenever that data was entered. It’s very hard to use a Search module to just get new data.

You can read more on the different types of Make modules in the help.

You can only have one Watch module per scenario, and it has to be the first module.

In contrast, you can have as many Search modules as you want anywhere in the scenario.

For more information, see Types of modules page in the Make Help Centre, which covers the following:

  • Triggers, Searches, Actions, and Universal modules
  • Apps and tools
  • Advanced tips and examples

You should also take note of the following important details:

  • In most cases, when using searches, you can get up to 3,200 objects per module run. Also, additional third-party API limits may exist.

Hope this helps! Let me know if there are any further questions or issues.

P.S.: Investing some effort into the Make Academy will save you lots of time and frustration using Make.
