Emojis in Gmail Drafts showing as Chinese characters

Hey everyone,

I’ve just found that emojis input into the Create Gmail Draft output as Chinese characters once the draft hits Gmail. Has anyone else noticed this or found a fix?

Thanks!

Hello @SdogEeinnarg; what’s the encoding used for the GMail draft and the encoding of the incoming emojis? I’m hoping that they match.

Hi @ImMichaelCannon , I’m not sure how can I check this?

I tested it by inputting emojis (from windows 10) directly into the Gmail Draft module in make.com.

It did end up fixes itself somehow on the whole, however it did happen across 3 or 4 drafts in about 40 drafts composed. So it wasn’t entirely predictable.

Hiya @SdogEeinnarg; where is your input data coming from?

Just directly into the ‘Create a Draft’ Gmail module, as demonstrated with a thumbs up in the screenshot

Those irregular bugs are extremely annoying, @SdogEeinnarg.

At this point are you in a good enough position?

My other thoughts are were you using different browsers to view the emails? Different logins? VPNs?

I’m Asia based, so sometimes remote systems make unoptimal decisions for me, leading to unreadable displays or very slow reading of Chinese.

Yes, I got through it in the end. I’ll find out whether I hit the same issue when I send my monthly emails out again in a couple weeks time.

As you suggest, it just seems like a bug rather than me doing something particularly wrong. Perhaps this will flag it up somewhere along for the make team
