Today was the day when my billing cycle resets for the next month, however, I ran out of credits just before it did. Bought an extra 10,000 and 2 hours later they were gone.
Do extra credits disappear just like that with each new cycle? Why would you even do this?

This is correct. Extra credits last until the usage reset date, as displayed in the checkout dialog.
If you do not want this to occur 12 times a year, may I suggest subscribing to a Yearly plan instead? You’ll also save money in the process!
