I’m not sure it can help, but it seems that the user you used to create the connection to Canva from Make is not allowed to read Designs. Normally, error code should be 403 (since 401 is ‘not authenticated’), but it’s possible that Canva returns an incorrect code.
Check if you can access Designs in Canva with your user, and if yes, try and add a new connection in Make, directly from the Canva Module. Sometimes, we are picking another old connection by mistake.

my solution was to change the type of image extension I was exporting from PNG to JPG
