Hi, I have a scenario that watches for new Outlook emails and then creates them as new items in a Monday.com board. Originally, I had the email field sending as text to a text column in Monday - it was successful in sending but… Unless the email exists in Monday’s special email (not text) column, Monday does not recognize it as an email address and you cannot use Monday’s built-in emails feature. So I converted my text column to an email column in Monday and attempted to re-connect in Make. Here lies the problem: Make is still trying to send the email as normal text, as it doesn’t recognize that Monday’s email column is not plain text (it does recognize my new column as as “collection” rather than ”text” but it is not compensating to correct the field entry to be accepted as an email). I’ve tried adding “ “ around the email in Make, as well as mailto: and even “email:” “ “. What can I do to make to Make email mapping to send through successfully to Monday’s email column?
Hi @AC_Tory ,
Can you share a screenshot of what is in the source json? You can click Download output bundles and screenshot the part of the json where it’s showing the email address.
Monday accepts emails as strings, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Shortly after posting, it began working. In my screenshot above, you can see that both email and text field are identical: this was crucial. Farther down my mapping, I had another “collection” which was a dropdown column from Monday - it noted you had to select from either the Index/IDs section or Labels section but not both. This is not the case for the “collection” email or phone number fields. Both fields (email, text) must be filled to execute successfully.
