When is this going to be up and running??? It’s been nearly 2 weeks… I have 2 big projects in planning stage (both with clients) that need this up and running. At the moment we are looking to move platform before implementing, due to the customer service and support on this. Poor service and response to something so critical!
HI @Michaela and the Make team,
I’m very new to make.com and just want to point out that this issue also breaks Unit 4 of the very first Foundation course in the Make Academy - that’s how I found my way to this thread. It might be worth making a note in that Unit that this integration is currently under repair, or maybe even change the integration used in that Unit, otherwise learners may think that your product is not so user friendly.
Thanks, Torin
Welcome to the Make community!
Thanks for letting us know. I had forgotten that the Google Sheets extension was used in the Academy too.
I sincerely hope the extension can be republished on the Chrome Extension store soon as it is really inconveniencing me too.
If you or anyone requires some free assistance to get the Google Apps script running, feel free to drop me a message.

P.S.: Investing some effort into the Make Academy will save you lots of time and frustration using Make.
Thanks @samliew.
If it’s of help to anyone else, by following the workaround video and leaving the ‘watch changes’ and ‘perform function’ modules just sitting at the bottom of my scenario, I was able to carry on and complete the Academy foundation coursework.
Hello @Torin_Kells
And welcome to our great Community! We are so excited to have you.
I’d like to thank you for your valuable insight. I’ve handed it over to our amazing Academy team.
Have a great day!
Edit: It seems to be working now, just taking a lot longer than usual to recognize the trigger from App Script and run the scenario.
Has Google App Script stopped working for anyone else? My script code is running fine and sending the triggers. Make was receiving them fine just a few hours ago, but now it seems to have suddenly stopped receiving the triggers from App Script.
All of my scenarios are connected to Google Sheets, so I am dead in the water without the extension or the app script.
Is there anytime scale for this issue to be fixed???
My two cents: also spoke about this in another thread last week. I built a few alternative methods:
- Apps Scripts → Make Webhook
- Webhook Sheets Extension → Make Webhook Listener (for people who may not have domain-level access for Apps Scripts)
- If you can get the signed download URL (gs:://) you can monitor for updates and pull the whole sheet, then parse it server-side / on Make.
If anyone needs help to fix workflows then I’m always up for a talk. My consultancy specialises in applied AI, process automation and computational analytics, so finding workarounds or optimisation opportunities are our bread & butter.
Hi guys,
I have been trying to implement the new workaround for the watch changes module in Make’s new documentation here:
However the link to the customscript does not seem to work leaving me with an error:
When I click on the link to access the script it sends me an an error page:
Hello @Michaela
It seems that the script code (step 4) is not available in this help page. Is there any other solution or updates ?
Hello @Crunch1234 @Sergiy, our apologies for the issue with the article in our Help Center. The team is aware of it and is actively working on a fix. In the meantime, you can find the script attached here:
Make for Google Sheets add-on.txt (4.9 KB)
Is this will be fix at some point ? Any of the workaround is working for me and I’m loosing clients. Please tell us if it’s never coming back again, we have to move elsewhere…
@Michaela, is there a way to apply the “Watch Changes” workaround to only a specific column in my sheet, rather than the entirety of it? I want to track changes in just one column while excluding all others, and I also need to ensure that the header row is not included.
Also what is the issue, is it something on google’s side or Make.com’s side?
Urrgggh this is so frustrating.
I’ve waded through the workarounds, but it’s just not viable for us. We have over 30 Google sheet scenarios that completely depend on this function. We would have to pay someone to go through and set all this up. The whole point of Make is an intuitive no-code platform. so lengthy steps involving Google Scripts is just a total turn-off. I was going to just hang fire until it was sorted, but nearly 3 weeks later nothing is fixed.
Looking into alternatives and feeling gutted that we became so dependent on a single module.
Hi Michaela. Why is this taking so long to fix? It has now been nearly 20days since this was first reported…probably longer before we all realised this is an issue. I would agree with Arthur_S_UK comment above- This is costing time, resource and money to implement work-arounds and then change the workarounds again once (and if) this EVER gets fixed?? The customer service and experience of this whole process has been awful. Is there a way to get compensation for any losses we have all accured because of this issue which is core to many customers automations? Setting customers expectations would also be useful—ie give a timeline or date for when this will be fixed. In the meantime while you look to fix and provide work-arounds I like many will be looking at other solutions like n8n or a return to zapier to move to.
Webhook works fine for me.
Hello everyone,
We completely understand how frustrating and disruptive this situation has been for you. I truly wish I had more news to share, but at this time, there are no updates.
If you have any additional questions about the situation or need help implementing the workaround, please reach out to our Customer Care team via a support ticket. They’re ready to assist with any challenges you’re facing.
We know that this is taking longer than anyone would like. Please know that our development team is actively working on this and that we will keep you informed as soon as there’s meaningful progress to share.
Thank you for your patience. We know this isn’t easy and we truly appreciate your understanding.
This video here covers the solution step-by-step (takes 30 seconds):
Still no fix for Google Sheets?
I think its pretty poor of this company to keep us in the dark over this. A key automation is dead. Thinking about switching toN8N
