I’m new to make.com and I’m just figuring things out. Currently, I’m creating a custom app on make.com so I can automate things with my API. My main question is do I need to create a webhook for my API to have a trigger on make.com?

Hello, it depends on your API, if it allows you to register a webhook per post request, you can try to create it.
If your api does not allow such a request, making the webhook registration manual on the external platform, then if you create a webhook module in your app it will work just like the webhook module already available in make.
