Quickchart Module URL field won't accept Make variable

Hello,
I’m using the QuickChart module to create a chart. Everything is working fine except for one significant bug: The Chart Template URL field appears to not be able to accept Make.com variables from other modules. However I need to pass in the URL from a previous module (my datastore).

This is very strange because all the other fields in this module will bring up the Module variables menu where you can select variables from other modules in the scenario:

However this last field Chart Template URL won’t. It is the only time I’ve come across a field that won’t let you input variables. Is this a bug in the specific module itself? I can’t think of any explanation for this. It will only let me put in the text, the menu in the previous screenshot simply never shows up.

If I try to copy-paste the variable in from another field, it renders it as plaintext like this: {{137.Template URL}} (with backticks that I’ve had to remove to use the markdown in this post). The plaintext string gets passed into the module as plain text, it does not resolve to the actual variable, so I can’t use it this way either.

Thanks for any suggestions

Here’s a video recording demonstrating what I mean:

You can see the menu pop-up at the left where you can import variables.

Welcome to the Make community!

Looks like that module’s field is incorrectly configured as a “static” field.

For bugs like this, directly contacting support can often lead to a faster resolution.

You can open a new ticket here, or if you are unable to login for some reason, you can create another new free Make account to access the ticketing system (which is only available to logged-in users). After submitting a new ticket, you will receive an automatic confirmation email with the subject “Ticket Created” in the subject. If you do not receive this, try sending the ticket again.

If you manage to get your issue resolved with support, we’d still love to hear about it! Sharing your solution on the forum can help others facing similar problems.

Hope this helps! Let me know if there are any further questions or issues.

Hi Samliew,

Oks, thanks for the info and I submitted a ticket.

It would be great if Make.com staff can submit these sorts of tickets on behalf of users, since y’all would have a much better idea of what these bugs actually are (eg. incorrectly configured ‘static’ field as you said). It also appeared to me that this bug doesn’t neatly fit into any of the ticket categories on the page you linked. The other problem is that if a user like myself doesn’t submit the ticket, it would seem the bug would go unresolved / not logged in the issue tracker, which seems like a poor workflow for bug collection — a user is likely much less skilled and incentivised to file this kind of bug than someone who works within the Make Community. Just my 2c…
