Hi! Is there any workaround that will allow me to add an SMTP email connection instead of IMAP only? I use ProtonMail, which only supports SMTP integrations.

I did attempt adding the SMTP server/port/username/password under the IMAP settings [connection type: Others (IMAP)] just to see if it might work, but ended up with an error.

Yes, that is possible. You’ll just need to get the connection variables right.
Please contact your mail provider for the correct settings.

I should have mentioned that I already contacted them, and they responded with a screenshot in Make showing an Others (SMTP) option within the module configuration settings. That option does not appear for me - I have no idea why - so they pointed out that that’s something I need to work out with Make…
To clarify:
I have: SMTP variables from my email provider
I don’t have: an SMTP option in Make
I have: an IMAP option in Make
I don’t have: IMAP variables from my email provider
Since my email provider supports SMTP (but not IMAP), I’m wondering if it’s possible to set up with SMTP in Make, because I don’t currently see where/how it’s possible.
Circling back on this… You mentioned that it is possible. Can you explain how? (Since I do have the variables from my email provider…)
