Automated monday.com Dependencies

Hi everyone,

Has anyone been able automatically connect monday.com dependencies?

The scenario is as follows.

  • We are managing an NPD process on monday.com, the process has 8 phases for each new product
  • The phases are created as groups on the monday.com board
  • The tasks/steps for each phase are created as subitems
  • Once the current phase is complete, automations create more subitems for the next phase
  • We need to work with strict timelines, but in order to do that we need to have dependencies to adjust timelines if and when needed

We would like to automate the dependency connection, so when a new subitem is created it automatically connects to the predecessor item.

Here is an example of our structure:

Kind Regards,
Juan

Hi @Juan-Holtzhausen

Please do the following steps to solve this issue

  1. Establish a webhook connection, specifically configured for “Watch Event,” to trigger when the status changes to “Done.”
  2. Utilize the “Create Subitem” function to generate a subitem, ensuring you select the appropriate item within the module.

If you require additional assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Hi @Msquare_Automation,

Thank you for your response.
This only solves the subitem creation part, but I need the dependencies to be linked as well. Any recommendations on that?

Juan

Hi @Juan-Holtzhausen

Apologies for the delay.
You can map the item id into the column at the time of subitem creation if the board of the item is connected to the corresponding column.
