Cannot find Notion - Watch database items when I was trying to make a scenarios

:bullseye: What is your goal?

I want to create a form and all information will be automatically concluded in my Notion Database, while I add a reply on the form, it will automatically send an email including my reply to the person who filled in the form.

 What is the problem & what have you tried?

I want to create a form and all information will be automatically concluded in my Notion Database

AI asked me to use the function Notion - Create a database item but I failed to find so I used Notion - create a database (Legacy) and it works eventually.

While add a reply on the form, it will automatically send an email including my reply to the person who filled in the form.

Cannot see Notion - Watch database items and can’t find any similar ones which I can set a filter so to trigger the email function after I add a reply on the form.

I have connected my notion with make already, how can I fix this problem?

Hey Shawn, welcome! If I’ve got this right, you’re trying to grab user answers, save them in Notion, and then shoot off an email. Is that the whole plan, or is there more to it? If that’s the case, which app are you planning to use for the form?

Welcome to the Make community!

It appears that the Notion “database” has been renamed to “data source”.

Simply use the new module:

  • Watch database items → Watch Data Source Items

Triggers when a Data source (legacy database) item is created or updated.

You can probably also use the “Watch Objects” module.

For more information about the “Watch Data Source Items” module and the Notion app, see the corresponding Integrations page and the Help Centre documentation.

Hi Richard!

  1. Grab users answers
  2. Save them in Notion by Make automatically (Data genereated successfully)
  3. Reply in Notion
  4. Shoot off an email to original form filler after I reply automatically

I am using Tally to connect Notion but cannot find the right function for step 4, thanks for your time!

Thank you for the help, I will give it a try first!

Got it, but is that reply gonna be personalized? If it’s just a generic one, you can just put it in the email node and save yourself an extra step.

Yes, the reply is personalized!

I tried with “watch data source items” but failed to set according filter as below (point 4), how can I make it done? Thank you for the help.

I tried to replicate the same scenario you’re working on, and I feel Notion isn’t the best tool. If it were up to me, I’d try using Google Sheets or Airtable instead.

Thanks for the suggestion, let me check on other tool for this function. Thanks a lot!

This confused me at first too, because it feels like the module should just be there. The issue wasn’t Make itself, it was how the Notion database was set up and shared. I spent way too long refreshing the app list before checking permissions. Once I shared the database correctly and added a test item, everything suddenly appeared and worked.
