What is your goal?
Hi everyone I have changed my internet provider as we needed to upgrade the line before the UK closes of analogue next year. Make has worked great for us as or scenario is simply connect some software through Make to our printer to allow printing. The HTTP if failing. I understand that Port 80 needs to be opened by the internet provider and they need an address to attribute that port to. Can anyone help me identify what that address may be, is it the IP4 address for example?
What is the problem & what have you tried?
Just http is failing
Error messages or input/output bundles
Failure 400
Hey John,
Check with the printer manual to see how to find the IP address.
I have the IP address of the printer, but port 80 seems to be needed to be opened. I am, btw as can clearly be seen, not an expert. However the stoppage on the scenario is at this point
Most likely it’s a setting on the local router, do you have access to it or do you do it via the service provider?
Also, what error is the http module in the Make scenario giving?
I agree it will be the router. I get an error 400 message emailed to me
On most routers there is a label on the bottom with instructuons on how to access it. Then opening the port depends on the actual software running on it, but you should be able to find a guide online.
Stoyan has a great point - your router should definitely be checked and configured to open the correct port.
It might also be related to how your new internet connection is set up.
I’d recommend contacting your ISP (your internet provider) and asking:
- whether your connection allows access from outside your network
- if you have a public IP address (it doesn’t have to be static, but it needs to be reachable from the internet)
- especially if you’re using a router/modem provided by them
Sometimes with a new provider, these things are restricted by default or require additional setup on their side.
Also, keep in mind that your IP address may be dynamic (it can change over time). In that case, you can consider using a DDNS service or additional service from ISP (static IP) to keep a consistent address - but first it’s best to confirm the basics with your ISP.
Have a nice day!
I am all set. The issue was that the printer had reset itself. I had to open port 80 reset an IP address on the printer change the details for both static and printer up. Thank you everyone
