Does anyone know of any updates on Make fixing technical issues with personal Google accounts so users are not burdened with a number of steps to integrate it with Make? Also, the need to re-authorize the connection every couple of days.

Connecting a personal Gmail account to Make requires several steps to ensure the security and privacy of your data. These steps are in place to comply with Google’s new security measures and protect users from potential data leakage or misuse and this limitation is coming from Google i beleive.
Also, the need to re-authorize the connection every couple of days.
The situation has recently changed, and I believe that if the steps outlined here are followed, the expiration date of the connection, no longer have to be worried for a personal Gmail account.
You can try the steps and see how it goes.
