Integration: Email client (Missive) <> Perplexity AI

We want to create a number of automations for which we will need a Make Pro.

The first automation is to collect any emails to which we assign a specific label in our email client, pass the data along with a prompt to Perplexity AI and receive a response which is then passed back to the email client and stored as a draft for the user to edit and send.

Our email client is Missive (https://missiveapp.com/). The email accounts which Missive is connected to are Google Workspace Gmail accounts so it is possible to access the same label via Gmail if it makes the automation easier.

On Perplexity, we have a Teams account and several Spaces set up. If it is possible to use one of these spaces, that would be great as it already has background information on our business, how we work and the style and tone in which each of the users typically write emails. If this is not possible, we will provide the prompt information which will supply the necessary information.

This sounds like a great automation workflow! I have a few questions to clarify the setup:

  1. Would you prefer to access emails via Missive’s API directly, or would pulling emails from Gmail (via labels) be acceptable?
  2. Do you have API access to your Perplexity AI Teams account and Spaces? If so, do you know if there’s an endpoint that allows sending prompts to a specific Space?
  3. Would you like the draft responses to be saved in Missive or directly in Gmail, and should the reply be in the same thread as the original email?

Hi Alifar, thanks for responding so quickly.

  1. The challenge with pulling the emails from Gmail is then getting the drafts back into Missive as Missive does not sync drafts with Gmail: Why is My Email Account Drafts Folder Not Synced?
  2. Yes, I do have API access to Perplexity. With regards to this question, I asked Perplexity AI :grin:. The answer is here.
  3. I would like the drafts to be saved in Missive and in the same thread as the original email.
