Microsoft365 Connection - how to set permissions in 365 admin console? (2.0)

Hi everyone,

The exact same question I am having was already asked by another user about a year ago (Link). Unfortunately, it was never answered and the thread is closed now.

The question is the following:

I am trying to use a couple of the Microsoft 365 connectors - OneDrive and Outlook. I am able to create connections with a personal Microsoft account just fine, but when I try to use a business Microsoft account, I receive a message saying

Make needs permission to access resources in your organization that only an admin can grant. Please ask an admin to grant permission to this app before you can use it.

There is an option that says “Have an admin account? Sign in with that account” but when I do that, make.com connects with the admin account instead of the desired account.

The 365 admin is not sure what specific things he would need to change under the hood to allow make.com to connect - does anyone know which settings he would need to change to allow the regular 365 account to connect? And where these settings would be found?

Did anyone figure this out in the meantime? Thank you so much for your help. :slightly_smiling_face:

One way to get this working is for your Microsoft/Azure admin to give consent to use the app.

UPDATE:
There are two things I like to add after a new session of Microsoft shenanigans I had last week:

  1. If you are lucky, you will get the option to click a link that will notify an admin of the approval request. I’ve heard these are easily found by MS admins in their logs/notifications.

  2. Most of the times you will be presented with the option to log in using an admin account to grant the permissions for the app to connect. This will only be used to approve the app. It will NOT setup the connection using the admin user. After the approval, it will use the user credentials you provided in the first screen.
