I know you cant post videos directly using Make to TikTok.
I know about the workaround using Zapier and Buffer…
But then that means having to buy subscriptions to two additional services (which kind of are similar to make in that facilitate automation)
So I wanted to ask if make has plans to add TikTok video posting at some stage (is it in the pipeline)?
Or is there another way to post videos to TikTok from make?
TikTok has some pretty stringent requirements for content posting. Social media management tools like Buffer and Metricool (recently added to the Make app family) handle this stuff really well.
Was there any special reason you needed to use Zapier as well as Buffer, rather than using Buffer directly in Make?
I have not opened support ticket, because i read the forums and other websites about this and they all said the Zapier workaround was the best solution.
BUT… I just tried it again in case I was mistaken (at the expense of 1 credit, gone to waste)
So here I ran the buffer module, where I gave the media link as a mp4 video on my server, the link and video were tested.
And it worked, so the scheduled video on Buffer queue, great
BUT…
When the video was posted, the actual video was NOT posted, it was just the image posted as an image post… you can see it here: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNdrNC6PE/
So what do you think?
(I asked support about an issue with Reddit module aswell, I was told to contact Reddit…)
Reading between the lines of the Buffer.comAPI docs and support guide on TikTok, it looks like adding the Link to an image parameter might be forcing it to treat this as an Image post rather than a Video post.
The support guide doesn’t mention Link to an image at all. The only reference is to the thumbnail - and I notice you have the same link for both.
Could you try without setting the Link to an image parameter?
The make modules says success and its completed. The post gets added to the buffer queue BUT it doesn’t actually post it to TikTok it say: An unknown error has occurred, please get in touch if this persists.
I tried to repost it from Buffer, and same error was shown.
I’ve reached out to our contacts at Buffer to see if they can help.
One last thought … I noticed that the Zapier app for Buffer doesn’t allow specifying a thumbnail image. If you can, it might be worth trying without the thumbnail too.
cool thanks for trying. I hope they can get it sorted, I mean I guess its something to do with make’s app settings with tiktok, because zapier can do it.
So tried what you suggested. Top one removed the thumbnail and image links
bottom one removed same as above but now also removed the title and description for the media source
