I have an automation where I’m creating posts for Facebook and LinkedIn and then posting those posts after review and indicating if I want to include an image or not.
The last few times I’ve run the automation, within Make, when I look in the result bubble for my LinkedIn post, the entire post is there. However, on LinkedIn, the post is truncated and only about half of what I have in my spreadsheet cell for the LinkedIn post is actually being published on LinkedIn.
Since I can see the entire input in the bubble above LinkedIn on Make, I’m not sure why the entire post isn’t being published.
I’m not sure what kinds of screenshots or other information might be helpful, but if anyone knows what might be going on, I’d appreciate some help.
It seems to me like Make is rushing through the automation (when I watch it, the LI post finishes posting WAY quicker than the FB post).
Hi @Lori_Reeves and welcome to the Make Community!
Is it possible that the LinkedIn post reaches the maximum length and gets truncated? The limit seems to be 1250 characters (or 2200).

Thanks for the suggestion! I just took the post out manually and pasted into a post in LinkedIn and it went in easily. It’s not a very long post, so I don’t think that’s what’s causing it. Unless there’s a different character limit for an automated post. But I can’t see that being the case.
The automation worked perfectly a few days ago. I have posted several times using the automation and I’ve gone back and checked and all of the posts from days ago were the full post. Is it possible there’s just a glitch today? I’m just getting started using Make, so I’m not sure how often there are just weird glitches in how it works.
I have another automation that is built almost exactly the same and the LinkedIn post function is working in that automation. I copied and pasted the module from that automation into this automation and it’s still not functioning properly. I have no idea what I’ve set up that might be causing this problem with only my LinkedIn posts.
Hmmm… it could be a glitch. Is it that one post only that isn’t working? Or is it the automation as a whole. If it’s that one post (though it seems that you succeeded in posting it using another scenario). maybe ther’s something in the content?
If it’s not just that one post but the automation, I would look for the last time it ran successfully and when it stopped working to see if anything changed.
Otherwise, I’m kinda stumped.

When I was testing it over the weekend, within the glitchy time, it posted the full post once. And then did the truncated post again. The entire automation is working correctly otherwise. The post that goes to FB is being posted in full. And there isn’t anything in the post that would be considered questionable.
Since I’m new to Make, is there a history of changes section where I can see what has been changed since it last worked correctly? Because I had that part functioning properly and then started adding more to the automation so it could do other kinds of posts as well. But they’re completely separate from the scenario branch that’s not working properly.
And it’s “showing” in Make that it worked properly. The entire post is even there when I click in the completed bubble, which shows me the input that was being used for the post. The entire input is there, so there’s nothing happening incorrectly within the scenario. Just on the LinkedIn side once the scenario has run its full course.
Super stumped over this one.
Hmm, I see a history, but when you edit, it doesn’t seem to track what you changed and how. You can only see the details of the run.
That said, in the history, you can click on each module of the individual runs. So you can take a look to see where you have “Edited” as the activity and see what the difference is between the previous run and the run that failed. You can see under “Simple Log” and under “Advanced Log” what happened.
