Question regarding mapping for automated X and LinkedIn posting schedule

Hey Makers!

Building my first scenario. Scheduling my X and LinkedIn posts stored in a Google Sheets. My research is telling me I need the following:

  1. GoogleSheets module for storing the content to be posted.
  2. A Make scheduler for setting up posting intervals.
  3. A 2nd GoogleSheets module to read the content from the sheet based on the scheduled date.
  4. A Router module that posts on X and LinkedIn respectively.

Am I on the right track? Any suggestions?

Hello @Caleb_Bartlett,

With Google Sheets, you can start with 1 of 3 options:

  1. “Watch New Rows” which will trigger when a new row is added. It is checked periodically on the schedule you choose. You choose how many rows to return should there be more than 1. use this if you want to maybe add a bunch of rows of content but only want Make to take 1 at a time whenever the scenario is scheduled to run.
  2. Or you can “Watch Changes”, which is instant, but doesn’t detect new rows. It detects when a cell is changed then send information about the change to Make. This requires installing an add-on in Google Sheets. Use this if you want to update a cell and cause that to trigger the scenario.
  3. “Search Rows” which returns rows based on search criteria. Using this as the first module, you could perhaps schedule the scenario once a day then search the sheet only for rows where the current date is in a specific column, like “Scheduled Post Date” or something like that.

You don’t have to use a router to post on X and LinkedIn, they can be in-line and will work just fine.
The thing I am not sure about is whether it’s possible to post on either, especially X.

Finally, as an optional step, update the Google Sheet to indicate that the posts have been posted. Whatever column keeps track of this, add that to your filter in the first step so that you don’t end up double posting.
