Strategic Proposal for Make’s Development in the Chinese Market

Dear Make Team,

My name is Rico. I am a long-time user from China and have recently become an official technical partner of Make. I would like to begin by expressing my sincere gratitude to your team for creating Make – a platform with an unparalleled application ecosystem and visual user experience.

Over the past months, I have independently developed dedicated training courses for Chinese users and assembled a team focused on integrating popular Chinese applications into the Make ecosystem. At the same time, we have been actively and consistently promoting Make’s unique advantages to users and businesses around us.

However, I am increasingly concerned about Make’s current development status in the Chinese market, which has prompted me to write this letter to share some key observations and suggestions.

China is entering an explosive growth phase for AI and automation technologies. The demand for efficient automation tools among individuals and enterprises is rising exponentially. The potential user base here far exceeds that of many other regions, making China a strategic market that cannot be overlooked.

About a year ago, Make, n8n, and Dify enjoyed comparable visibility in China. Today, however, n8n and Dify have gained a clear lead in brand awareness and user adoption by implementing localized go-to-market strategies—such as regular live streams on short-video platforms and collaborations with local key opinion leaders (KOLs). In contrast, Make remains largely unknown to most potential users in China, primarily due to the lack of targeted, localized promotion. This situation is deeply inconsistent with Make’s product strength and, in my view, a great pity.

From the perspective of a partner deeply engaged in the Chinese market, I believe there are two core obstacles that must be addressed as a priority:

  1. Registration and Access Barriers
At present, Make’s reliance on Google reCAPTCHA, which is not reliably accessible inside mainland China, forces many users to resort to circumvention tools simply to complete account registration. This drastically increases friction for new users and severely constrains organic growth. Providing an alternative verification solution that works smoothly in China is critical for expanding your user base here.

  2. Data Compliance and Localization
Chinese enterprises have explicit and strict requirements regarding data security, privacy, and localization. For most business customers, storing data solely on overseas servers is not acceptable, especially in regulated industries. To unlock the enterprise market in China, it is essential to consider local data centers or compliant data storage options. Industry practices such as distributed deployment, regional clusters, or localized nodes can serve as useful references for designing a compliant architecture.

I am convinced that if Make’s strong product capabilities are combined with localized technical adjustments and a dedicated investment in China-specific marketing and partnerships, the resulting returns will far exceed expectations.

In this context, I would like to formally ask:

  • Has Make already included the Chinese market in its mid- to long-term strategic roadmap?

  • Are there concrete plans or timelines regarding market entry, localized infrastructure (such as data storage), and promotional activities tailored to China?

Regardless of whether there are immediate plans on your side, my team and I will continue to uphold our original intention: to promote Make in China and to improve the user experience for local users as much as we can. At the same time, we sincerely hope that Make will recognize the enormous potential of the Chinese market and consider accelerating key initiatives such as:

  • Optimizing the registration and verification process for users in mainland China; and

  • Exploring compliant, localized data storage or deployment options for enterprise customers.

These steps would significantly lower the barriers for Chinese users and allow many more individuals and organizations to experience the exceptional value that Make has to offer.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response and sincerely hope we can work hand in hand to build a mutually successful future for Make in the Chinese market.

Warm regards,
Rico
