The new community UI & functions are awful

:bullseye: What is your goal?

To write, format, select categories freely.

 What is the problem & what have you tried?

The contrasts and colors are awful.
The obligation to have a formatted answer is driving me crazy.
I despise that I have to select between 3 categories ONLY.

Devs seriously thought limiting to “Beginner Questions - Questions - Knowledge Hub” was the most intelligent call?
Why can’t we write freely anymore ?
Yes because when you try it OBLIGES you to select a category, which automatically formats the whole output.

Can’t even share multiple screenshots - it replaces the previous one.
Can’t format freely, only "what’s your goal, what’s the problem, blabbla.

I feel trapped and restricted.

It was perfect the way it was before, why change it ? (Rethorical question, there was no good reason for that downgrade).

:camera_with_flash: Screenshots (scenario flow, module settings, errors)

Because people were posting vague complaints about something and the first response to every topic was us asking the OP the three questions that are now preformatted. So the Make staff just forced them in every topic.

I do get the idea though, it could be useful to have a separate category where you can post freely, I fear we will be back at square one with it though.

Now everything falls under Beginner question or Question - what an improvement.

The three questions is not a bad idea in itself, but the execution is awful.

And I’m not only referencing that, but the whole UI Design - the contrasts, box rings on selection, colors - it’s visually painful

Hey @CIT_BV :waving_hand:

Thank you for your honest feedback. We appreciate it! Let me address the points you have made in your post, so I can explain why we decided to go with the UI changes.

  1. The categories
As @Stoyan_Vatov mentioned (thank you, Stoyan, I appreciate you jumping in ), we’ve repeatedly heard feedback that the categories were confusing and messy. That led to most users not knowing where to post their questions, and the Community Managers constantly reorganizing existing topics to the proper places. If you have any specific categories you’re missing, let me know, and we’ll discuss this with the team!

  2. The formating
We also added the formatting boxes to the Beginner Questions and Questions to clearly indicate what kind of information the user should post in order to receive helpful guidance. This step limited the follow-ups for “Can you share your scenario with us?” or “Can you share some screenshots of the setup?”. I’m sorry if you feel limited in posting your questions, but these were meant and developed as guidance.

  3. The colors and contrasts
We totally understand that this is a subjective matter and not everybody is going to love the colors that we picked and applied for the community. Update of the visual part was set in place so we stay consistent with our other resources, such as Make Academy and the Help Center.

Again, thanks for your feedback!
