Twitter / X API update due to legacy media endpoints being depreciated

Got this e-mail from X a couple of weeks back:

"We recently announced that the X API v2 now supports new Media endpoints that allow developers to upload media (images, videos) to X programmatically and update media metadata and subtitles. You can find the complete documentation for these new v2 endpoints on our developer docs.

We plan to deprecate the legacy v1.1 media upload endpoints on March 31st 2025 for self serve developers (Free, Basic and Pro tiers).

If you are using the legacy v1.1 media upload endpoints, please start migrating to the new v2 endpoints for this functionality as soon as possible."

I believe the Twitter endpoints for media upload is still the old way, right? Will this be updated for the new v2 endpoints? Or has this already been fixed?

Thanks!

Also curious. I can’t get videos to upload on twitter because it says I don’t have the permissions.

Hello @Ryan2 @Matt_Baehr thank you for bringing this up in the community.

We’ve recently sent an email to all our X users with details about the updates to the “Upload Media” module. Here’s a screenshot for reference:
