Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice regarding a decision between Airtable and Notion for storing and managing information. I’m currently building two automations and would love to hear your insights!
- Hiring Process Automation: This involves creating a form to collect candidate data, storing the information, and activating automations for selection and follow-up.
- Managing School Group Reservations: For a tourist attraction, I need a system to organize and track group bookings effectively.
I already use Notion for our internal intranet, but I’m wondering if it’s worth investing in a paid Airtable account for these specific use cases.
What are your thoughts on the pros and cons of each tool for these types of workflows? If you’ve worked with either or both, I’d love to know your experience and what you’d recommend!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello @jpduchesneau,
Nowadays these 2 tools Airtable
and Notion
completely dominate the no-code collaborative tools.
There are lots of common features and capabilities that make them so powerful.
Let’s see some differences and similarities.
Core functionality
Airtable
: It’s specifically designed for use as a collaborative database system with tables, and it’s useful UI where it holds some data and is easily accessible using API.
Notion
: The core approach of the notion is to use all the things as pages and within the page add a possible block that is currently available. The primary focus was easily used for personal use cases, documentation, and dashboard creation.
Evolve
Over time both of them added many advanced functionalities which helped to current setup expand and use it more clearly.
Airtable
: Automation, Forms, Interface, Advanced Views.
Notion
: Tables, Calendar, Forms, Advance Formulas.
Conclusion
→ Both of them offer Tables but if you’re focused more on Database structure instead of documentation and interface then use Airtable
.
→ If you consume more API Integration to use more outside integration(third-party tools), then use Airtable
.
→ Notion
API is also powerful but needs more learning curves.
→ If Dashboard, Portals, or Basic Table use case then use Notion
, which is more documentation-centric whereas Airtable
is more table-centric.
→ Native Automation in Airtable
automation is more powerful compare to Notion
Automation.
→ For use of AI i think Notion
has some edge.
There are lots of other things but these are some basic and core things to understand before choosing any of the platforms.
As current AI ear tech is always evolving within the next 6 months or next year, things will change when these tools come with some game-changing features. So also check their roadmap and future plans.
I hope my views are helpful to you.
