Gmail Module Unreliable

Hey everyone,

I dabbled with the new Gmail release at the beginning of July, while it was briefly live. I subsequently reverted my modules to the older version once the new version was pulled back into beta.

Ever since then, one of my Gmail connections has been very unreliable, and I just can’t figure out what causes it to go off the rails.

I’ve tried severing the connection all together and recreating it, however, the problem comes back.

In a nut shell, after some seemingly random amount of time, my Watch Email module will begin missing incoming emails. I just can’t put my figure on what triggers it. I have to diagnose around what time roughly it went off the rails, then try to backtrack. It’s turning into a complete pain in the rear end.

Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Are there any filters on your Gmail Watch Emails module?

For emails I’d recommend using the Mailhook for reliability instead, as it doesn’t rely on a connection.

Hope this helps! Let me know if there are any further questions or issues.

Not really - I did have more, but have since experimented with stripping them out and into the scenario instead.

How would you implement using the mailhook instead of the gmail module if I want every email to be monitored automatically? Would it be something like setting a mailhook as a forwarding address in my gmail settings?

I’d be all for a more reliable solution, as the systems I’m trying to put in place are falling apart when I’m finding the connection has mysteriously stopped function properly.

To answer my own question (and after having a fiddle), I guess setting the mailhook as a forwarding address is the answer.

One of the drawbacks I guess is that it doesn’t capture outgoing mail automatically (i’d have to bc the mailhook on all my outgoing emails). Do you have any smart suggestions on that front @samliew ?
