Google Calendar is triggering when it's not supposed to

Hi

I got some assistance here previously which helped get my automation done - thanks!

My make seems to work as intended in my testing, but in the real world test, I’m having an issue - I’ve set a trigger to Google Calendar to “Watch Events” and “By Updated Date". I’ve also set the “Query” to have this symbol “ # “. This field states that it “Searches for events containing the specified text”. So in my mind I believe this to mean that if a calendar event is updated AND it contains a #, then the scenario will be triggered and run.

However, this is not happening.
It seems to be triggered on random events that don’t have the “#” symbol anywhere in the Google calendar information.
Could anyone offer any assistance?
I’ve added a screenshot of the google calendar settings.

Unfortunately, # is not a valid character in the query field, and will be removed from the search query (silently on Google’s end). Therefore, the result is that ALL events will be returned, as your query is now considered “empty”.

Try using another phrase as the search query.

For more information on how to use this freeform query field and what it searches, see Events: list  |  Google Calendar  |  Google for Developers

Hope this helps! If you are still having trouble, please provide more details.

Thank you, samliew. Could I use a $ instead?

I’ve tried replacing the trigger symbol with a $ and I’m still getting the same results.

Is there anything else you might be able to suggest?

Instead of a special character, use a phrase or word.

Alternatively, you can try enclosing it in double quotes: "#"
