Help with WhatsApp Business cloud and Open AI API

I’m trying to build a Scenario where I can send and receive WhatsApp messages using Open AI api for the assistant and Meta Whats App cloud API for sending receiving messages. I have built this but it keeps erroring and I’m all out of ideas on what to do with it so I’d thought I could pay someone to fix it. All connections work I can send a message and it responds to a received message, but it just throws an error after it is run for the first time. If I dont send a message through whats app and just send the response to a spreadsheet the scenario works perfectly.

Have you got experience with WhatsApp business Cloud?

@Steve-fox you might want to (also) post this in How To category where people help you for free, at first glance your problem is not in WhatsApp connection but fact that you send {{9.messages.text.body}} value straight to your assistant without checking (in right place) that this value exists. You might want to set the second route as a fallback route in your filter setting.

Thanks, I did post in the how to section but no one responded

Can you explain how the fallback route might work?

@Steve-fox see reply in https://community.make.com/t/whats-app-business-cloud-open-ai-chat-bot-error/

Thanks for your help. I tried changing that over and even added another condition if message was empty but that didn’t work. It just seems to keep running for a second time like its trying to process the message it just sent

Hi @Steve-fox,

If you’re still looking for a solution, I’d be happy to help!

The goal of automation is to ensure auto-responses to messages whether a chat exists or not.
One tip: You might try reconnecting the trigger event and restricting it when a ‘message received’ condition is met.

Feel free to explore my services.
I’d also be glad to connect on LinkedIn and stay in touch.

Looking forward to hear from you soon.

I can see you’ve already done a solid job setting up the scenario.

It looks like the issue is related to the OpenAI module expecting a message input that isn’t being received properly when triggered by a WhatsApp message. This is a common issue in Make scenarios when required fields aren’t dynamically populated.

No worries at all, I’ll take care of fixing this for you. I’ll ensure the message input is correctly handled so that your scenario runs smoothly every time, whether a WhatsApp message is received or not.

Looking forward to resolving this quickly and getting everything running as expected.
