What is your goal?
add the original email when I reply the message of outlook 365
What is the problem & what have you tried?
the scenario is working, I mean, it´s reply to an address I took from body original msg but it´s not bringing the original msg, like I clicked on the reply button on the ribbon.
Hi Alexandre, welcome to the community
Your scenario is working, but what’s missing is the message context. Right now you’re basically sending a new email to the sender’s address, not replying to the original Outlook message.
To get the same behavior as clicking “Reply” in Outlook, you need to use the Reply to an email action and pass the Message ID from the trigger email. That Message ID is what tells Outlook to include the original message thread automatically.
So instead of just mapping the sender’s email address from the body, make sure you map the Message ID from the Outlook trigger into the Reply module. Once that’s in place, Outlook will include the original email content and keep the conversation thread intact.
After that, you shouldn’t need to manually add the original message text at all.
Hope that clears it up!
Regards, Tony
Tks so much for your reply. But reading your response, I´ve already done it, or not? I’m using “Reply to an Email” and passing the email ID in the Email ID field. That´s why I expected to work.
This is what u sent or not?
Again tks so much for youtr attention
You’re very close. The key thing is which ID you’re mapping. In the Reply to an email module, it needs to be the Message ID from the trigger email, not another Email ID coming from a different step. Even if the field is called “Email ID”, Outlook expects the original Message ID to keep the conversation thread.
If a different ID is used, Outlook will send a new email instead of a real reply, which is why the context is missing. Once the Message ID from the trigger is mapped directly, Outlook will automatically include the original message and keep the thread intact.
Hope that helps!
It´s funny man! I feel I almost there, but all u sent I believe I’m doing.
If I’m not wrong, the original Email ID is AQMkADAwATExADQ0ADgtNzBmYi05YzU2LTAwAi0w.
After parsing the fields I want to work on, I set the Email ID to be the same, no?
That’s why I expected it to work!
I’m not understanding u right perfectly, I’m so sorry.
Anyway, tks for your patience
Hi Alexandre
No worries at all, you’re explaining it perfectly and your expectation makes total sense. The value you’re showing does look like the correct Message ID, so yes, that is the one Outlook expects for a proper reply
The tricky part is how it’s passed along. The Message ID really needs to come straight from the trigger output and stay untouched. If it’s parsed, stored in a variable, or rebuilt by a text parser, Outlook can treat it as a new reference even if the value looks exactly the same, and that breaks the thread.
If you can, map the Message ID directly from the trigger into the Reply to an email module without any intermediate processing. Once that’s in place, Outlook should automatically include the original message and keep the conversation intact.
You’re honestly very close, this is just one of those Outlook quirks that’s more confusing than it should be.
Happy to help, and thanks for your patience!
