UI update - see your workspace name in the scenario builder

Hi,

I just wanted to share a quick update about the scenario builder UI.

Many of you commented that with the new Navigation, you lost the ability to see which Org/Team (workspace) you were in when working on a scenario.

That info is now available again, simply hover over the scenario title and you’ll see the info you need.

Thanks,

Lisa

I made my own version of the main navigation that auto hides out of the way when not in use. Perhaps you can implement something like this!

Yes!! Nice workaround until we can build this in for everyone.

We’ve got plans for:

  1. Preferred menu sizing (compact / expanded)
  2. Preferred menu ordering (what items show up at the top in the purple bar)

Can I suggest that people rarely modify menu arrangement to suit and instead complain they cannot find anything. The auto complete features implemented into the object picker can be used elsewhere with great success. And the auto hide is a good idea because most monitors are not that big and the canvas always can use more space.

10% of the navigational items are used 90% of the time. You most likely know what those are. Make them easily accessible by default for all users.

Thanks @alex.newpath for the additional points!

What’s interesting about Make is that we serve several distinct personas, each with very different priorities. I agree that “design your own menu” isn’t how most people want to spend their time. Still, some features, like Custom Apps, matter a lot to a smaller, highly active group. So we’re always trying to strike the right balance between optimizing for what the majority use and giving flexibility to those working at the edges.

I don’t envy the position you’re in. And I recognize this dilemma — I still contend that a common design pattern found in many apps and even complex systems is the type to find objects and files and features in software. This pattern is everywhere.

I am sure you’ll continue to experiment but I already heard from one of our power users on my team that the new UI is confusing. I don’t think so but I also do not spend nearly as much time as she does in the system.

I do think the new UI for users that have access to many organizations is really good. The type to find Ui in there.

If you in fact have several categories of users why not expose a newbie vs power user vs developer UI scheme?
