Urgent Need for Dark Mode

Why is dark mode the most asked feature and still not implemented?

Priority has been given to dark mode in the new Grid, and the forum, but not in the scenario builder that we all use the most.

I work mainly at night, but some days even during daylight, the white background is still too bright for me to use.

Requested in 2022, in the top 10 most upvoted feature request and we’re just being pushed aside for dark mode in Grid and forums.

Yes there are workarounds, but why should we? Most sites now have a dark mode toggle, we’re just being ignored here.

I agree, they really should implement this. 3 years is already a long time for a feature like this to sit unresolved.

Hi from the Make Design team – we hear you and we’re working on it!! :black_heart:

Let me first share the workaround so that others know about it.
This will give you dark mode in the scenario builder.

In the Chrome browser:

  1. Go to this URL: chrome://flags/ Search for “dark”
  2. Enable it.

Example from Vincent A. on LinkedIn:

Where we are on dark mode

This year was the first time we implemented a design system in Make, starting with the areas outside the scenario builder (new navigation, buttons, lists, etc.).

The scenario builder is next, but because of its complexity (colors need to work across the thousands of apps), it’s a bigger piece of work. I can’t commit to a public timeline yet, but I want to be transparent that:

  • Dark mode is on our radar and is a priority
  • The feedback here is being actively shared with the team
  • We’re approaching this in a way that won’t compromise usability or performance

Please keep the feedback coming! It genuinely helps us prioritize and make better decisions. And thank you for building with Make every day.

This workaround applies to all sites, so it may not be suitable for everyone.

I recommend using the Chrome “Dark Reader” extension as you can toggle it on/off easily globally or per-site.
