Hi @Obakoyowa_feyifire ,
To successfully create a WhatsApp webhook that can listen for incoming messages in real time and also send messages, it’s important to complete the connection and onboarding process correctly. Please follow the steps below carefully and cross-check them with the attached screenshots.
Step 1: Add the WhatsApp Business Cloud “Watch Events” module
- In your Make scenario, add the WhatsApp Business Cloud → Watch Events module.
- In the Webhook field, click Add (or choose an existing hook if already created).
- This webhook is responsible for receiving real-time events such as incoming messages and message status updates.
Step 2: Create a new webhook
- Enter a Webhook name (for example: My WhatsApp Business Cloud Events webhook).
- Under Connection, click Add to create a new WhatsApp Business Cloud connection.
- Under Events, make sure at least the following are selected:
- Messages - (If “Messages” is not selected, incoming WhatsApp messages will not trigger the scenario.)
- (Optionally) Message Statuses, Account Updates, etc., depending on your use case.
- Save the webhook once configured.
Step 3: Create the WhatsApp Business Cloud connection
- Provide a Connection name.
- Ensure that 2FA is disabled for the WhatsApp Business number you are connecting.
- If 2FA is enabled, the connection may fail or behave inconsistently.
- If you encounter a “Resource not found” error:
- Retry the onboarding process.
- Select existing Business Accounts instead of creating new ones.
- Proceed to continue the connection setup, on saving the connection you will be directed to a new page which enables to connect Make.com with WhatsApp .
Step 4: Log in with Facebook (Meta)
- Log in using the Facebook account that has admin access to:
- Facebook Business Manager
- WhatsApp Business Account
- Review the permissions requested by Make.
- Click Continue to allow Make to access your WhatsApp Business Cloud API.
Step 5: Select Business assets
- Choose or create a Business Portfolio.
- Select the correct WhatsApp Business Account (WABA).
- Make sure the WABA contains the phone number you expect to receive messages on.
- Click Next and continue through the remaining Meta onboarding steps as instructed on screen.
From this point onward, please follow and complete the remaining steps exactly as instructed by Meta.
Once all the above steps are completed correctly, the WhatsApp webhook should start receiving and processing real-time messages as expected.
