[401] I cannot acces the files in EXCEL 365

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I set up the connection with Mircosoft excel for the first time and it went fine. Today I was working with an excel file, and after two hours of working I started receiving this message: [401] You do not have permissions to open this file in the browser.

First I verified and reathorized the connections but kept getting same issue. Then I deleted the connection and I set it up from scratch again..and again.

I have no technical background, so this is a little overwhelming for me. With google sheets never had an issue..

I read similar topics in the community, but I do not know how to fix this.

My Microsoft account is a peronal one, so if I am not wrong, I do not need to fill the custom app client credentials in the advanced settings…

Many thanks in advance for your help!!

I am having the same issue and noticed it after the new AI Agent update. I have sent a support ticket and would suggest you do the same. Quite frustrating but I am sure it will be fixed soon.

Welcome to the Make community!

Based on the previous discussions in the following threads,

:white_check_mark: It appears that this is a Microsoft bug. If you contact Make support, they will provide you further details to share with Microsoft.

For technical issues or bugs like this, directly contacting support can often lead to a faster resolution. Make support has access to your specific account details, scenario and scenario logs, server-side logs, and internal tools and resources, which allows them to investigate more thoroughly than what you have access to.

You can open a new ticket here, or if you are unable to login for some reason, you can create another new free Make account to access the ticketing system (which is only available to logged-in users). After submitting a new ticket, you will receive an automatic confirmation email with the subject “Ticket Created” in the subject. If you do not receive this, try sending the ticket again.

If you manage to get your issue resolved with support, we’d still love to hear about it! Sharing your solution on the forum can help others facing similar problems.

:white_check_mark: A workaround would be to upload to Google Drive to convert it into a Google Sheet and use the Google Sheets integration.

Hope this helps! Let me know if there are any further questions or issues.

P.S.: Investing some effort into the Make Academy will save you lots of time and frustration using Make.

Hi @samliew Many thanks for your quick response. Yes, I opened the ticket and let’s hope it can be fixed soon. You all do an incredible job here!! Really glad this community exists!

I got feedback from Support and below is their reply. Essentially the only way to make it work is to use the business plans, however, I personally think that I may be able to find a work around using Power Automate to push as webhook for what I need to make.com.

Customer support reply below:

After a thorough investigation of the issue by the Microsoft team, below is the update we have received from them:

“We have determined that Excel Graph on OneDrive for consumers platform was never announced as supported to the public. Although requests from this account type may have succeeded in the past, it is not officially supported. Microsoft Product team is working on providing a fix for this issue in the future, but they cannot guarantee anything at this moment. They are actively working on it. Since this is a by-design issue, it is considered as a new feature.”

For full support, they recommend switching to using Excel Graph on OneDrive for Business or SharePoint site. You can refer to the documentation here: Working with Excel in Microsoft Graph - Microsoft Graph v1.0

Kindly note that this is a limitation at Microsoft’s end and Make has no control over the same. Make is also limited in this case due to their API shortcoming.
