OpenAI module still showing 429 error after purchasing new credits — does it require a reset or wait time?

Hi everyone,

I’m running into an issue with the OpenAI module in Make. It keeps returning a 429 error even though I already purchased new credits/tokens.

It’s been almost 24 hours since I completed the payment, and the module still won’t start.

Here’s a video showing exactly what happens:

Has anyone experienced this before?

  • Is there a required wait time after purchasing credits?

  • Or is there a way to “reset” the module so it recognizes the payment immediately?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello @Mike12 , Regardless of credit balance, there are limits on the number of requests and tokens per minute. Rapid, frequent requests can hit these limits, resulting in a 429 error.

Look at the error message. The 429 is sometimes due to credits, but most often, as @Mike12 says, it’s because you’re calling the service too quickly. The error message should tell you how long to wait before trying again. So when you get the 429, wait for a suitable amount of time and you should be able to continnue. If you search for “error 429 openai” on the forum, you’ll find plenty of approaches that work.

Thanks for your replies. In my case, the 429 error is not because of too many requests, but because my credits ran out. Everything was working fine until the credits finished.

I already renewed my credits, but the 429 error is still stuck and I can’t find a way to “reset” this situation. Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a way to clear this state after credits are reloaded?

Does it work in the playground?
