Slack Bot vs. Posting as User

I’m trying to create a workflow in Make.com where specific actions trigger messages to be posted on a Slack channel. However, I’m encountering a problem: the posts appear as if they’re from me, and not as a bot, unlike my previous setup with Zapier where they appeared as a bot.

I’m seeking advice on how to configure my Make.com integration with Slack to send messages from a bot account instead of my personal account. Here are the specifics:

  1. Is there an option in Make to authenticate with a Slack bot token?
  2. How do I switch from sending messages as a user to posting as a bot within Make’s Slack module?
  3. Are there any permissions settings I need to adjust in Slack to allow Make to post as a bot?
  4. Has anyone experienced this issue and found a workaround or solution?

Thank you for your assistance!

Welcome to the Make community!

You’ll need to create your own bot app, instead of signing in with your Slack account.

For more information, see Slack integration using custom Slack app/bot instead of default Integromat?

Hope this helps! Let me know if there are any further questions or issues. P.S.: investing some effort into the tutorials in the Make Academy will save you lots of time and frustration using Make!

Hey there,

when you are creating the Slack connection it asks you if you want to create a user or a bot. Just select the bot.
