🧠 Gmail Automations with Make

Hey Makers

Just jumping in to share another great tutorial by the great @Matous_Vrba

This time around, we’ll be looking at a couple of useful Gmail automations. Read on to get the summary of what goes on in the tutorial or skip to the end of the post to watch the video.

:one: Sending a Slack message when you get an email with shared files

An example story behind the scenario

Let’s say you’re a graphic designer at a company and you need to edit a couple of colleagues’ headshots to be featured in a blog post. You ask them to share the images with you and start receiving emails with links to various Google Drive folders. To avoid having to check these in your inbox, you can have the links sent to Slack and therefore save yourself some clicking around.

What the scenario looks like

In the tutorial, you’ll learn how to

  • Create Gmail & Slack connections
  • Set up the Gmail module that triggers the automation when you receive new emails with links
  • Choose from where to start processing your data
  • Set up the Slack module that pings you a message with the link
  • Test the automation and check if everything works
  • Schedule your workflow to run as often as you like
  • Activate and save your scenario

:two: Sending personalized emails to survey respondents

An example story behind the scenario
Your company is conducting a survey to learn which of your products/services are the most popular with your users. After receiving each submission, you want to send a personalized thank you message to the respondent to show that you appreciate their feedback. Set up this scenario and you won’t have to type out every single one of those emails.

What the scenario looks like

In the tutorial, you’ll learn how to

  • Create Typeform & Gmail connections
  • Set up the Typeform module that triggers the automation when a new submission comes through
  • Configure the module that sends the personalized email
  • Test if all is working
  • Save and activate the scenario
